Sketching in Mayo

Some time off with the family and the scenic beauty of Co. Mayo

Earlier this year our foreign holiday was in Tenerife, and as per usual, we normally follow up with an Irish trip. This years trip was county Mayo. It was the only county in Ireland that we have never been. The journey from Waterford was roughly 4.5 hours so a decent drive.

We stayed at a gorgeous spot called Killadoon, deep in the countryside just outside a small village called Louisburgh “God’s Pocket!” The apartments were adjacent to a lovely pub called P.Dans. During the week I surfed and kayaked the local area, enjoyed pints in the local, and also got into the sketchbook a bit. Below are a couple of YouTube shorts I created around some of these sketches.

Achill Island

Achill Island was immense. We managed to get lucky with the weather and enjoyed a great day at both Keem Bay and Keel Beach. Both beaches were extremely clean and the surf in Keel especially was terrific.

Sketchbooks in general

As of recently, I have created a YouTube series based around my sketchbook and how I use it. See my latest videos below.
