Le Cool Magazine Cover Illustration – Issue #193

Dublin City’s art and culture

I was recently asked by Le Cool, which is a free weekly magazine which features exhibitions, movies, concerts & the general buzz that is Dublin City’s art and culture. Having never lived in Dublin and only going from a beyond the Pale view, I was keen to tackle their brief. Here is the first cover of two.

Dublin City

My explanation of this was the following: “I don’t get to visit Dublin as much as I would like to, so when I do, I take as much of it in as possible. This keeps it fresh for me in another perspective as I don’t get numb to the overall bustle and flow of the city. The illustration is an exaggerated version of me doting over the cityscape.” I hope you like! Keep in touch for issue two’s cover next week.

Peace on Earth
My take on a Techno Barbarian. Techno-barbarians is the name given to the warriors who battled over the ruins of Terra during the Age of Strife. They formed the troops of the warlords who dominated Terra during the period, and were equipped with a primitive form of powered armor which would become the basis for the developments of Space Marine armor. The Emperor arose in the later part of the Age of Strife to reunify Terra. Under his leadership his army conquered the other warring techno-barbarian factions.
